How you can tell

Three signs your IT architecture needs a plan.

Do you recognize your company in one of these statements? Tap it to see what the workshop changes.

  1. In the workshop

We take a structured inventory of your systems, applications, interfaces and data flows. Afterwards, you see at a glance where dependencies, media breaks, duplicate systems and Excel workarounds slow down your processes.

  2. In the workshop

Without a target architecture, new requirements keep coming in, change requests pile up and the go-live slips. In the workshop, we define systems, processes and interfaces up front, so your project starts within a clear framework.

  3. In the workshop

AI projects rarely fail because of technology. They fail because of data and process quality. We show which data flows are solid and what has to change for AI to deliver value in daily work, for example as a custom application with Microsoft Foundry.

What the workshop makes visible

From grown to planned.

  • Interface between two systems
  • Media break: data is moved across by hand
  • Excel and email fill the gaps

In the current-state analysis, we map your landscape like this, with every interface, including the ones that are nothing more than a list.

What happens in the workshop

Three parts, one question each. A plan at the end.

Current-state analysis, target architecture, review: each part answers one question, and each answer is the basis for the next.

  1. Consultant pointing at an overview on a large screen while a colleague listensWhere are you today?

    Current-state analysis

We take stock of systems, applications and documents and analyze business processes and data flows.

    • Interfaces assessed by function and dependency
    • Business-critical systems identified
    • Duplicate systems and potential to consolidate
    • Media breaks and opportunities for automation
  2. A pen pointing at a screen showing an overviewWhere do you want to go?

    Target architecture

We check whether your IT strategy fits your business goals and use that to define your future landscape.

    • Future systems, processes, data flows and interfaces
    • Cloud options by cost, scalability, security and flexibility
    • Impact on your licensing
  3. Three people talking at a round meeting tableWhat comes next?

    Review

We discuss the results together and align the target picture with your specific requirements.

    • Recommended next steps
    • Prioritized areas for action
    • Basis for planning, budget and delivery

From practice

Processes first, then systems.

Many companies think in systems instead of processes. They talk about ERP, CRM or individual tools before it is clear which business processes need support and which strategic goals are behind them.
Often, in just a few hours, connections become visible that nobody had fully seen before. That usually leads to very concrete ideas for automation, simplification and future innovation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the IT architecture workshop.

What customers most often want to know before the workshop.

What is an IT architecture workshop?

A structured format in which your existing system landscape is analyzed and a target architecture for the coming years is defined. At NAVAX, it has three parts in terms of content (current-state analysis, definition of the target architecture and a joint review with prioritized next steps) and runs in four organizational steps: preparation, on-site workshop, concept and results presentation.

What is IT architecture?

IT architecture describes which systems a company uses, how they work together and how data flows between them. It covers applications such as ERP and CRM, the interfaces between them and the question of what runs in the cloud.

What is a target architecture?

A target architecture describes how your systems, processes, data flows and interfaces should look in the future. It is aligned with your business goals and is the basis for the order of your next IT projects.

How long does the architecture workshop take?

The architecture workshop takes 12 hours of your time, the Enterprise option 22 hours. At its core is one workshop day on site, two in the Enterprise option. Add to that a short preparation, follow-up questions and the results presentation. NAVAX writes the concept.

Who should take part in the workshop?

IT management, process owners and key users from the business departments, ideally also someone with an overview of all company processes. Depending on the topic, people responsible for finance, purchasing, sales, service, logistics or HR join.

What is the difference between the architecture workshop and the Enterprise option?

Depth, strategic focus and target group. The architecture workshop is for midsize companies, the Enterprise option for corporations, groups and companies with complex processes. It offers two workshop days or an additional consultant for specialist topics, and a much deeper process analysis.

How much does an IT architecture workshop cost?

You receive the price in a personal quote. The scope is fixed in advance, so you know what to expect before you start.

Do I need the workshop before an ERP implementation?

It is a sensible first step before ERP, CRM or AI projects: it clarifies goals, constraints and dependencies before budget is committed. The advice of our solution architect: “Invest enough time in the target architecture before deciding on software. If you define processes, data flows, responsibilities and integrations early, you reduce project risks considerably.”

What does the workshop do for AI projects?

It creates the conditions for AI projects to work: clean data flows, clear responsibilities and a stable platform. You see where your data is ready and where it is not.

Start your next IT project with a clear plan.

With 12 hours of your time, move from a system landscape that has grown over the years to a target architecture that fits your business goals.
